5.4.1 About the Directories Used During Installation of Oracle Grid Infrastructure

OUI uses several directories during installation of Oracle Grid Infrastructure.

Note:

The base directory for Oracle Grid Infrastructure 19c and the base directory for Oracle RAC 19c must be different from the directories used by the Oracle RAC 11g Release 2 installation.
  • Temporary Directories
    To install properly across all nodes, OUI uses the temporary folders defined within Microsoft Windows.
  • Oracle Base Directory for the Grid User
    During installation, you are prompted to specify an Oracle base location, which is owned by the user performing the installation.
  • Grid Home Directory
    When installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure, you must determine the location of the Oracle home for Oracle Grid Infrastructure software (Grid home).
  • Oracle Inventory Directory
    The Oracle Inventory directory is the central inventory location for all Oracle software installed on a server.
